Bjørn Nørgaard

As an artist Nørgaard works with many different media and his works illustrate his engagement with the world around him. The “Horse sacrifice” (1970), a brutal political happening made for the exhibition “Tabernakel” at Louisiana Museum for Modern was a big breakthrough for Nørgaard. It caused a lot of commotion and debate. In general Nørgaard’s works reflect on culture, politics and society as it evolves. Another more recent achievement is his design of Queen Margrethe II’s tapestries which can be seen at Christiansborg Slot. Nørgaard has exhibited at almost all major museums in Denmark and several galleries. He held the position as Professor at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art in the period 1984-1995. Personally, Nørgaard is educated from the Copenhagen School of Experimental Art (Eksskolen).
