Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset
The Danish-Norwegian duo Elmgreen & Dragset seeks to address a wide range of issues in their unique mix of art, architecture and design – ‘conceptual installations’ could be a way to describe it. The issues range from cultural, social, political and historical tendencies in art as such to more general matters of society. Usually with a starting point in something familiar and expected, Elmgreen & Dragset challenges our views on the established and the normal, whether it is in art, society or sexuality. Elmgreen & Dragset has collaborated since 1995 and have exhibited throughout the world, perhaps most notably at the ZMK in Karlsruhe, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Tate Modern and the Serpentine Gallery in London. More recently, Elmgreen & Dragset were chosen to refurbish one of most famous squares in the world, London’s Trafalgar Square.
