Michael Kvium

Michael Kvium is one of the most significant artists in Denmark. Educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1979-85, Kvium is renowned as one of the most important painters in Denmark today. Highly personalized, sarcastic, bleak but almost witty are now some of the easily recognizable characteristics of Kvium’s paintings, although Kvium early on in his career experimented with films and performances. The core of his work, however, is the paintings where Kvium in his studies of Man depicts social, cultural and political difficulties with a personal yet precise touch.
