Nils Erik Gjerdevik
Nils Erik Gjerdevik is Danish visual artist, albeit born in Oslo, Norway. He studied at H.C. Høier’s School of Art in 1982/83 before attending Academy of Arts in Prague. Gjerdevik creates paintings, ceramic sculptures and graphic works, often with references to minimalism and op art. Gjerdevik’s own, abstract style continues to challenge and explore different aspects of composition and colouring, and apart from hosting various solo exhibitions throughout Europe, Gjerdevik has done murals and other decorative task in many of the recent years’ seminal buildings in Copenhagen. Gjerdevik was the 2002-recipient of the Eckersberg Medal.
