Macro Outlook: The US rate cut cycle has begun
Peter Garnry
Chief Investment Strategist
Join our Global Macro Strategist Kay Van-Petersen, as he interviews some of the best of breed players in the markets, kicking off with Singapore based Macro Fund, AVM Global Opportunity Fund (AVM).
In this interview that touches on markets, asset allocation, trade construction, macro regimes, as well as an outlook on 2021 – we get to hear from Ashvin Murthy, Founder & CIO on the AVM Way & how he has delivered to his investors equity like returns, with bond-like volatility. We also touch on the challenges of compounding wealth, including a number of misconceptions to be found in approaches to investing & managing risk.
Ashvin was one of the few hedge fund managers that was consecutively up for the first five months of 2020 – a period that saw the markets go from being super bullish in Jan, to mega bearish in Feb & Mar, before again reverting to risk-on from Apr & May. As of the interview his fund has returned +40% since inception with a Sharpe of close to 2x.
It’s worth noting that post the interview, its emerged that AVM has been nominated by EurekaHedge for Best Singapore-Based Hedge Fund.
