Twitter, Inc. is an American microblogging and social networking platform which allows users to post and interact with messages known as 'tweets'. Twitter was created in March 2006 and launched in July of the same year by current CEO Jack Dorsey, as well as Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams. The site's main source of revenue comes from data licensing and advertising services. As of 2021, Twitter has over 206 million daily active users worldwide.

Twitter, Inc. is most famously known for its namesake social networking site Twitter.com. The site provides a network for users to connect with each other, share information, news, opinions, and ideas in real-time. It relies on open-source software, and its API is compatible with other web services and applications for integration. The company is also used as a marketing tool for businesses, with its products and services including Promoted Accounts, Promoted Tweets, and Promoted Trends.

Twitter, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco, California, where it was founded. The company has over 5,500 employees worldwide. About 2,500 of them work from its headquarters and half of them are engineers.

Twitter went public in September 2013. Stocks are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker 'TWTR'. As of 2021, the company has a market cap of US$49 billion. Over 80% of its shares are held by institutions, with the main shareholders being Morgan Stanley, Vanguard, and BlackRock.
